Complete your dental implant restoration with a durable, custom-crafted porcelain or zirconia crown designed to match your natural smile and bite.
An implant crown is the visible, tooth-shaped restoration that sits atop a dental implant, completing the replacement of a missing tooth above the gum line. Custom-crafted from high-quality zirconia or porcelain, implant crowns are individually designed to match the color, shape, and size of your surrounding natural teeth for a seamless result. The crown is secured to the implant via a small connector called an abutment. We help you address:
Feature | Dental Implant Crown | Traditional Tooth-Supported Crown |
|---|---|---|
Anchoring Support | Attached directly to an artificial titanium root in the jawbone via an abutment | Cemented over a shaved-down natural tooth structure |
Impact on Adjacent Teeth | Completely independent, requiring zero drilling or alteration to neighboring teeth | Requires reshaping and capping healthy adjacent tooth walls |
Decay Susceptibility | The artificial porcelain or zirconia material cannot get cavities or decay | The underlying natural tooth structure remains vulnerable to new decay |
We take highly accurate 3D digital scans of your healed implant site and opposing teeth to design your custom crown.
Our dental lab partner fabricates your porcelain or zirconia crown to match your exact shade, contour, and bite alignment.
We securely attach the internal connector post onto your implant fixture if it is not already in place.
We check your bite alignment carefully before cementing or screwing your custom crown into place.
When Dr. Mohammad Hammoud designs an implant crown, he checks that the contact points and bite forces sit evenly across your arch. A poorly balanced crown can overload the underlying implant post or cause jaw discomfort over time. We take the impression on our own intraoral scanner rather than a tray of putty, which means fewer remakes and a crown that seats the way it was designed to.
Usually far less than the placement appointment did. The implant post has no nerve, so most patients need no anesthesia for the crown visit. You will feel pressure while we seat and check it, and we can numb the area if your gum tissue is tender.
The porcelain or zirconia material of the crown cannot get cavities or decay, but you still need to maintain diligent daily brushing and flossing to protect your surrounding gum tissues.
We typically wait a few months for osseointegration to finish before placing the final crown, ensuring the post is stable enough to handle chewing forces.
While modern dental ceramics are exceptionally durable, chips can occasionally happen. We can easily evaluate the crown and repair or replace it if necessary.
