Immediate Dentures

A Smooth Transition for Your Smile

Immediate dentures are pre-fabricated removable prostheses designed to be placed immediately after your remaining teeth are removed. By taking impressions before your surgery, we have your new teeth ready and waiting. This approach helps protect your healing gums and prevents the social discomfort of being without a smile. We help you with:

  • Providing a full set of teeth on the exact same day as your extraction procedure.
  • Protecting your extraction sites by acting as a bandage to control bleeding and swelling.
  • Allowing you to maintain your normal speech and appearance right away.
  • Providing a comfortable transitional smile while your gums heal over the next several months.

4. The Final Reline

After your gums and bone have fully healed and reshaped over several months, we perform a professional reline to bring your denture back to a snug fit. Most people need this repeated every year or two as the bone keeps settling.

FAQ

Immediate Dentures FAQs

Does it hurt to put dentures over fresh extractions?

You will be fully numb during the procedure. The immediate denture actually acts like a protective bandage over the extraction sites, which helps minimize bleeding and swelling during the first few days of healing.

No. For the first 24 hours, you must leave the immediate denture in place to protect the surgical sites and reduce swelling. We will remove it for you at your post-operative checkup the next day.

As your gums heal from the extractions, the tissue and underlying bone naturally shrink and change shape. Because the denture was made before this shrinkage occurred, it will eventually feel loose and require a reline to fit securely again.

Yes. We take careful measurements and note the shade and shape of your natural teeth prior to extraction so your immediate denture looks like a healthy version of your natural smile.
