Denture Repairs

Fast Fixes for a Broken Smile

Even well-made dentures can suffer damage from accidental drops, everyday wear and tear, or a changing jawbone that stresses the acrylic. We assess the damage carefully to determine the fastest, most durable way to fix your appliance. Many repairs can be handled right in our office, while complex fractures are expedited to a dental lab. We help you with:

  • Repairing hairline cracks or complete fractures in your acrylic denture base.
  • Replacing broken, chipped, or missing prosthetic teeth seamlessly.
  • Fixing bent or broken metal clasps on partial dentures.
  • Restoring the structural integrity of your appliance so it is safe and comfortable to wear again.

Prompt Relief in Dearborn

When Dr. Mohammad Hammoud handles a denture repair, the first question is whether we can do it in the chair. With seven operatories and emergency slots held every day, we can usually fit a repair in without pushing you to next week. Most repairs go same day or next day. If yours has to go out to the lab we will tell you that up front rather than after you have left it with us. Please always bring in any broken pieces, no matter how small, as this allows us to deliver the strongest possible fix.

FAQ

Denture Repair FAQs

Can I fix my broken denture with superglue?

No. You should never use superglue or household adhesives on a denture. These chemicals are toxic, and the glue will ruin the acrylic base, often making it impossible for us to perform a proper professional repair later.

Many minor repairs, such as fixing a small crack or replacing a single popped-out tooth, can be completed in our office on the same day. Complex fractures need to go out to our dental lab partner, which usually takes a day or two.

Dentures often break during normal chewing if the fit has become loose over time. A poor fit causes the acrylic base to flex slightly with every bite, eventually leading to a stress fracture.

If your denture has broken multiple times, is extremely worn, or is over seven years old, repairing it might just be a temporary patch. We will evaluate the appliance and let you know if a new denture is a better long-term investment.
